The Spice Girls delivered a dazzling performance during the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. The girls’ onstage reunion became one of the most talked about gigs not only during the ceremony but of all onstage performances of the year.
The estimated 1 billion strong audience at the closing ceremony were treated to a fantastic show as the five girls stormed onstage on top of five traditional black London cabs that were accessorized to reflect each Spice Girl’s personality. The crowd burst into applause as the group performed their first smash hit, Wannabe and followed it up with one of their trademark hits, Spice Up Your Life.
The girls indeed spiced up the audience’s lives with their one-off reunion performance. Even Mayor Boris Johnson and Prime Minister David Cameron were seen flashing some wacky jigs of their own.
Posh spice Victoria Beckham wowed in an elegant strapless black dress by Giles Deacon, while Mel B showed off her curves in a sequined bodysuit by ZuhairMurad. Geri Halliwell fired up the night in a bright red strapless dress, while both Mel C and Emma Bunton looked reminiscent of their younger versions with Sporty Spice in a flowing white jumpsuit and wedged trainers and Baby Spice in a girly pink dress.
After the gig, Geri tweeted her excitement: “That was amazing!!! Thank you all, we love you!”
Victoria was also just as psyched as she posted a photo of all five of them, captioning it with “We did it! I love you girls so much!”
