Tom Cruise clearly wasn’t happy about Life&Style Magazine’s headline that claimed he has abandoned Suri, his daughter with ex-wife Katie Holmes, after their divorce.
To show his disapproval, the Mission Impossible actor filed a $50million defamation lawsuit against the publishers of the said magazine in a Los Angeles federal court.
Bert Fields, Cruise’s lawyer, reportedly said that the claim is a “vicious lie” and that Cruise wasn’t happy about the filing for damages, but felt it was appropriate as “sleaze peddlers” were trying to make money over his relationship with his daughter.
He also said - as reported by the Mail Online - that if Cruise wins the lawsuit the $50million will be donated to charity.
He added: “Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She's a vital part of his life and always will be.”
According to the same report, the father and daughter were last photographed together in Florida in August.
It is understood that Bauer Publishing has not issued a statement as of time of press.
Suri’s parents divorced early this year. Holmes was awarded full custody and Cruise reportedly got “generous” visitation rights.
