The top car company in the world Toyota is recalling around 7.4million of their cars in total from across the world, because they fear they have an electrical window fault. The recall will affect many models of cars, including the Corolla and Yaris.
It is believed that approximately 138,000 cars will be affected in the UK and that this relates to the Auris, Corolla, RAV4 and Yaris Toyota models.
Despite the company having received no reports of injuries or deaths as confirmed by a Toyota spokesperson, they are asking to have the cars back so they can be check if there is a fault with the windows.
With regards to the rest of the world, the following models are thought to be included on Toyota’s recall list; Auris, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, RAV4, and Yaris.
The news comes as Toyota are re-building their reputation following their set back with a car recall in 2009. This came about due to floor mats reportedly affecting the accelerator, which caused dozens of deaths as reported by The Telegraph. Toyota on this occasion called back at least 12milion vehicles from across the world.
The latest recall can be compared to the recall case regarding car company Ford, who recalled 8million cars 16 years ago.
The chain of events surrounding Toyota could be considered as an unlucky run, given that the company have also had to endure the impact of last year’s earthquake and tsunami activity.
