What is Fibre Broadband?

Supanet's Fibre Broadband uses the latest developments in fibre optic broadband technology to deliver the fastest available broadband
speeds to you.

Instead of sending signals through your standard copper wires (as ADSL currently is) the signals are sent through fibre cables, at very
high speed enabling us to offer you a faster surfing experience. Fibre optic cables are transparent fibre made of glass which transmits
information at the speed of light. This helps to increase the speed of your broadband connection.

Fibre broadband is ideal if your internet usage is very high, i.e. if you play online games, transfer heavy files, download movies, watch live
HD TV online, like to enjoy different online activities at the same time or if your internet is used by multiple users at the same time.

There are generally two types of fibre broadband connections: Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and Fibre to the home (FTTH). Supanet
offers FTTC.

How does Fibre Broadband (FTTC) work?

As the name suggests, in case of Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC), the fibre cable connects the telephone exchange and the street cabinet.
The street cabinet connects to your home via standard copper cable which uses VDSL or similar technology that can deliver much faster
speeds over shorter distances.
