Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been preparing for a huge party at their French chateau, leading to speculations that they are planning to marry this weekend.
Guests such as Brad’s parents have arrived at Chateau Miravaldays before the party. Reports say the guest list also includes Robert Procop, the jeweller who designed Angelina’s $250,000 diamond and platinum engagement ring, and Pitt's frequent co-star George Clooney, who now lives one flight away from the chateau at his home in Lake Como, Italy.
The couple, who was engaged back in April, has been together for the past seven years and now raises six children together.
Sources say that Brad flew to the chateau in advance to check on the preparations but that the whole family has now joined him.
Patrick Mareschi, the deputy culture secretary of the nearby village of Correns, however, told Reuters that the French law requires couples to get married at the town hall. “Unlike with a religious wedding, there’s no way a couple can hold a civil ceremony at their own home.”
As of Monday, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continue to be Mr. Pitt and Ms. Jolie, as the rumoured wedding party did not push through after all.
The Hollywood power couple fueled speculation that they were planning to marry secretly when they began planning for a lavish party at a French chateau. Reports said that it was going to be held last weekend. Now, however, it was found that no such wedding occurred.
But instead of brush off the speculations, MickaelLatz, mayor of nearby village Correns, told the media that the wedding will indeed occur but that it will ‘more likely’take place next Saturday instead.
Latz said: “It’s a far more likely date. There are no plans for a civil wedding in Correns this weekend.”
Meanwhile, the couple has not released any comments regarding the speculations. The media is continuously monitoring the French chateau, the rumoured venue of the wedding.
Earlier this week, deliveries of food and champagne were seen being brought in, while a marquee was also being put up. Brad Pitt’s parents were also seen arriving at the £35million
Chateau Miraval, and this stirred up even more speculations regarding the true purpose of the party the couple was planning to host.
