7. 'Midnight's Children' by Salman Rushdie (14%)
It has been awarded the Best Of The Booker Prize twice - once in 1993 and again 2008 - fixing it into the mainstream as a popular title. It is based on events that took place before and after the partition of India in 1947 and it is famous for its employment of magic realism which can be a difficult concept to fluently follow with ease.
