Aging football coach, Tony DAmato (Al Pacino), is struggling with his personal and professional life while trying to hold together the Miami Sharks. He is dealt a cruel blow when the star quarterback, Cap Rooney (Dennis Quaid), is injured and Tony is forced to turn to third-string benchwarmer, Willia Beaman (Jamie Foxx).
Beaman seizes what he believes to be his last shot at the big-time and turns in a string of stunning performances forcing Tony to question his traditional approach to the game and, indeed, life itself.
