Best of BritWe take a look backat Britney's career
Britney Spears is on the verge of signing a multi-million dollar deal to join the second season of the X Factor USA, it has been reported.
The singer is currently finalising a deal to join the judging panel of Simon Cowells singing competition, claims The Hollywood Reporter.
The deal, which could be made official as early as next week is reportedly worth $10million (£6.3million) for one season of the show, reports Deadline.
Rumours have circulated about the new judging panel since former judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were axed last month in a show shake-up.
Janet Jackson was also revealed as a possible judge, but has since reportedly declined an offer due to her busy touring schedule.
Speaking during a radio interview last month, X Factor creator Cowell revealed that he thinks Spears would be perfect for the Fox singing competition, saying:
"I would think that if she's managed to sustain in her family life a career which is tough, this is a walk in the park."
Sources close to the show say that Spears is receiving intensive media training in preparation for the show.
Cowell and L.A. Reid are the only remaining original judges set to return for the second series of the programme.
