Nelly involved in drug bust at Mexico border

Cops detained Nelly’s entourage after being caught with heroin, cannabis, and a loaded gun...

Rap star Nelly was detained by US checkpoint officers near the Mexico borders after a loaded gun and a stash of drugs was found on his tour bus.

The cops found sachets of heroin by the dozen and a duffel bag filled with more than 4.5 grams of cannabis in the bus, along with a loaded .45 calibre pistol, when the vehicle was stopped for a routine check on Wednesday evening in Sierra Blanca, Texas. 

One of the Grammy-winning rapper’s entourage, Brian Keith Jones, took responsibility for said items and was thus placed under arrest. The rap star himself, however, has been released. 

In a statement released by the singer yesterday, he said: "It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest. Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board."

This is not the first time that a singer and a rapper have been stopped at the same checkpoint for suspicion of drug possession. In January, both Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg were also detained there. 

Nelly’s tour bus was stopped after a dog detected the presence of controlled substances when it pulled into the Border Patrol checkpoint.
