Singer Duffy rescues pets and helped neighbours during fire at her London flat

Duffy was forced to flee from her London flat but not before rescuing her cat and dog...

It must have been a traumatic Wednesday night for Welsh singer Duffy as fire broke out in her London home.

Based on the report, the singer was packing up her belongings with her friend and cleaner when they noticed smoke coming out of a vent.

Unable to find the source of the smoke, the 28-year old decided to flee but without her beloved pets. 

Neighbours said that the singer appeared dazed as she was led from the penthouse and that her only thought was for her two cats and dogs.

Although she managed to rescue one of her two cats and her dog, the other cat disappeared in chaos. The cat was later found by the singer’s friend hiding under a white van. 

More than 60 firefighters came to battle the fire, which lasted for more than 6 hours. They have confirmed that gutted penthouse have suffered extensive damage and that the cost of damage is yet undetermined.

A formal investigation has been launched. 

The source said: 'It's very badly damaged up there at the minute. There's still a lot of water up there too. Our investigators are still working on the roof to establish the cause of the fire.
