The Grand National is one of the most important events in the British sporting calendar and millions of people all over the world tune in for the drama and excitement of the occasion. Grand National day is when people who have no interest in horse racing or gambling for the rest of the year get the bug and enjoy the event, some having their once yearly flutter.
The celebrations will now begin on Grand National Thursday, which will be titled A Day for Champions. This is an occasion when a spotlight is placed not only on horse racing and Aintree, but also on Merseyside and the long list of sporting heroes and champions from the area.
When it comes to Merseyside sporting history, the achievements of Liverpool and Everton take centre stage but the area has delivered more than just football success to the world. Beth Tweddle is an Olympic medallist who has been World Champion on three occasions while Sam Quek is an Olympic Gold medal winner in field hockey.
There will also be a celebration of rugby league stars, boxers, swimmers and martial arts performers who have graced the world stage. The event will also feature athletes who take part in the November 2017 Invictus Games to be held in Toronto.
Some big name stars will add glamour to Grand National Thursday
While people in attendance in the Champion’s Lounge will get to see sporting heroes close-up, while also enjoying a fantastic range of food and drink, you can guarantee there will be plenty of coverage for TV viewers. There is a huge level of interest in Grand National weekend and with stars like Kenny Dalglish, Graham Sharp, Michael Owen and Jon Wilkin in attendance, the media coverage will be high. This means that there will be plenty for attendees and TV viewers to enjoy from this celebration.
Given the level of interest in the Grand National and the many races over that weekend at Aintree, it is only natural that many people will be looking to place a selection of bets. That is why having a helping hand can be of benefit, and thankfully, there is a range of Grand National free bets on offer. At this time of the year, many bookmakers cut back on promotions or deals because they know there is a huge level of demand, but if you’re looking to boost your bankroll in anticipation of an exciting weekend of horse racing, you can.
Liverpool has been classed as the greatest sporting city in the whole of the country and there is no denying that Merseyside has produced many sporting heroes over the years.
