Amazon Streaming aims to put up a good fight against its rivals like Netflix by investing heavily in creating and promoting films and its very own television shows. Recently, it has announced plans to massively expand the number of its employees in research and development across London saying that new roles will primarily include software and development engineers, data analysts, user-interface experts and graphic designers who will focus on Amazon’s video streaming services, which is currently home to shows like Jeremy Clarkson’s The Grand Tour.
Doug Gurr, the UK country manager for Amazon, said: “London is one of the world’s truly great cities and home to some of the most talented, creative people on the planet, and we are delighted to provide our teams of innovators with a new, purpose-built workplace,”
Last month, the company has also announced its acquisition of high-end super market chain Whole Foods in a $13.7bn deal. Its shares recently surpassed the $1,000 mark, making billionaire founder Jeff Bezos one of the world’s richest individuals.
