The bassist for Spiders From Mars – David Bowie’s backing band during the 70s – has died. Trevor Bolder reportedly passed away from cancer at the age of 62.
The sad news of Trevor Bolder’s death was stated by Uriah Heep, the band the bassist joined after his time with Bowie and The Spiders From Mars.
Uriah Heep said in a statement: “Trevor was an all-time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced.”
Trevor Bolder is known by many for playing with Uriah Heep, the English rock band, among other artists.
It is believed he only stopped playing with the band recently because of conditions surrounding his health.
David Bowie expressed in a statement that Trevor Bolder was “a wonderful musician” and that he had beed “a major inspiration for whichever band he was working with”.
Gary Kemp, who is from the band Spandau Ballet, who formed in the 1970s, took to the social network site Twitter to pay tribute. He said:“RIP another Spider from Mars, a kind and decent man, Trevor Bolder. Love and peace to his family.”
Trevor Bolder contributed to albums such as ‘Aladdin Sane’ and ‘Pin-Ups’, including Uriah Heep’s album ‘Firefly’, among others.
