This gives businesses using the existing three million lines in the UK no other option but to explore IP-based communications.
Over the next seven years or so, all ISDN customers will have to make the move over on to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and start considering VoIP and Cloud Telephony solutions. For some businesses, this would mean upgrading their phone systems to support SIP. For others, this could mean investing in a whole new phone system to accommodate the switch. For businesses that are using telephone systems that do not support SIP, they will need to start looking at investing in new premises-based SIP PBX or move to a Cloud base phone system.
VoIP phone lines work the same way as ISDN. But they are the better option. The system eliminates the need for capital expense. Thus, may businesses will find it a lot cheaper than ISDN for line rental and call costs.
Cloud VoIP telephone system offers many other benefits. These include cheaper and quicker setup, lower capital expenditure required for hosted phone system, and complete scalability. Cloud can be easily configured based on the business requirement.
