Eddie Izzard has announced the release of his first major feature film at the Cannes Film Festival this week, a documentary showing three years of his life on stage and in private.
The film, called Diva 51, will also delve into Izzard's life as a transvestite.
When once asked if he preferred the company of men to women, he replied: "I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body."
Izzard also revealed his exhibitionist tendencies during the production of the film.
"There's an element of my wild and large, rollicking ego about doing it, but I want the film to dig deep," he told Variety magazine.
The film will include the comedian's efforts to make it big in the US and his subsequent Emmy successes. Robin Williams and Eric Idle also feature, together with interviews with other fiends and family members.
Diva 51 is due for release in 2005.
