Why Laminate Flooring Is The Popular Choice For New Build Homes
If you are purchasing a brand-new home, you will get the choice to install either carpets or wooden flooring.

This choice can seem to be one that is difficult to conclude. There are considerations that people have which can include if they are going for flooring – should they do it in all rooms or just selected rooms. Conventionally, flooring was not in all rooms but times have changed a lot and some people have this throughout the whole house. The only exception we see to this is stairways that will normally have carpets. There are lots of different things to consider when making this choice.
Comfort and Style
If you are not planning to sell the home within the first couple of years and you plan to make it a personal style that may not be everyone else’s taste, then you don’t then need to go for the conventional look carpets or flooring. In terms of carpets, you can get these in all different colours and style and the flooring is similar. There are grey laminated flooring options that come in different styles and shapes and grey laminates will last for a long time. You can ask the home build company to arrange any of this for you or if they do not have this on the selection, you can opt to do it yourself (or get a company to support).
Heating
If you are someone who likes to walk around the home with no shoes or slippers on, then you will be aware that doing this on a floor can be cold and hard on your feet. This would then encourage people with this type of flooring to consider wearing footwear. Alternatively, there are options for people with wooden floors to get underfloor heating installed. This may sound snazzy and expensive, however, as the home is a new build, this is the perfect opportunity to get this incorporated into the home at this stage. Most of the home developers will support with this request.
Cost
The cost of laminate flooring is about the same as most quality carpets but there are some other hidden costing benefits that should be considered. Wooden floors can be cleaned very easily by using a brush. Any spillages and stains can be mopped up and, unlike carpets, they will not wear quickly which will mean that it doesn’t need to be replaced over the years. Flooring can genuinely last for over 10 – 15 years if it is treated with respect which makes it very popular with homeowners.
Summary
As people do not have to worry about the hassle of installing wooden floors at a new build stage, it becomes very popular. The look of good quality wooden floors in the home is impressive and the ongoing maintenance time and fees associated with this is much less than the carpet alternative.
