Paris Hilton has slammed claims she's cashed in on her famous surname - saying she's worked hard for what she's got.
Despite being born into millions, the hotel heiress insists she's very grounded and is working tirelessly to make a career for herself.
She told America's New York Daily News newspaper: "Because of my last name, people think I'm spoiled. But I'm really down to earth, and I work harder than most people I know. I get up at 6 am, have meetings or photo shoots. Or I'm on the phone talking business or travelling to Tokyo to sell my perfume."
Paris - who is due to release her debut album later this year - says she could have had an easy life by going into her family's hotel business but decided to go for the harder option.
She added: "I avoided the family hotel business because I wouldn't want to just be given something.
"I have the resources, so I can do it on my own. I want to do a couple of cool boutique hotels in my favourite cities."
