Michael Jackson's personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray, is to be charged with manslaughter, according to US reports.
Dr Murray is expected to be arrested within the next two weeks by police who have been investigating the pop singer's death since June 25.
Dr Arnold Klein, who acted as Jackson's long-time dermatologist, could also face criminal charges, according to Fox News.
Jackson's sudden death has raised concerns over his alleged addiction to prescription drugs.
Fox News have reported that detectives had initially hoped to charge Dr Murray with second degree murder but were doubtful a jury would convict him.
US media reports have claimed that Dr Murray, who was working with the singer ahead of his comeback shows in London, administered a powerful sedative to the star shortly before his death.
This particular accusation has been denied by both Dr Murray and his lawyer.
Dr Murray, who is in hiding, recently posted an emotional video on YouTube, thanking his supporters for their messages, stating: "I told the truth and I have faith the truth will prevail."
Additional reports from The Sun suggest that Jackson's mother, Katherine, may sue Dr Murray with a $100m wrongful death claim.
It has also been revealed that the King of Pop will finally be buried on what would've been his 51st birthday August 29. Jackson's death propelled a surge of public and media interest, boosting many of his albums and singles back into the charts.
