Kylie's cancer hell
Showbiz
13:30 04 July 2006
Kylie Minogue has told for the first time how she fell to pieces after being diagnosed with cancer.
The brave singer fought back the tears as she revealed in a candid interview with British TV presenter Cat Deeley that she tried to run away after hearing the dreaded news in May last year (05).
She said: "The moment my doctors told me, I went silent. My mum and dad were with me. We all fell to pieces. I was saying, 'No, I'm getting a plane'.
"They said, 'No you're not, sit down'."
The 'Spinning Around' singer's ordeal came to an end, however, when she was told in January her breast cancer was in full remission.
She had undergone months of gruelling chemotherapy treatment that caused her hair to fall out.
During the frank hour-long interview, 'Kylie In Her Own Words', for Sky One, the Australian star emotionally thanked her family and boyfriend Olivier Martinez for their support.
She also discussed future projects, including a children's book and a new album, and insisted she is determined to complete her 'Showgirl' tour - which she was forced to cancel.
The interview will be screened later this month.
