Hollywood film actress Liz Hurley has claimed life as a single mum "sucks" and is ready to tie the marriage knot.

The soon to be 40-year-old model is keeping her fingers crossed that boyfriend Arun Nayar will propose as she wants to be a wife before having another child.

The Indian businessman is in the process of divorcing first wife Valentina Pedroni.

Liz said her age and experience allowed her to see marriage in a much more positive light.

"I've been a single mother once and I am sure every single mother in the world would agree with me - it sucks," she told ES magazine.

"Now, although it's never been something I've thought important before, I can see why it is important for people to declare their intentions, make vows, and make proper, above-board plans for everybody, because that clarifies and simplifies things quite a lot."

Liz is bringing up her three-year-old son Damian after her acrimonious bust up from billionaire Steve Bing.
