Actor Idris Elba plays Mandela in a biopic that will debut at Toronto Film Festival on September 13th as confirmed by organisers on Tuesday.
The adaptation, Long Walk to Freedom, will join the Fifth Estate, a film about Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, Merryl Streep’s August Osage County, and The Railway man starting Colin Firth at the event.
Ralphs Fiennes’ drama about Charles Dickens, titles The Invisible Woman, will also be featured in the event.
The 38th Toronto International Film Festival will run from September 5-15.
Other British filmmakers in the line-up include Stephen Frears, Roger Michelle, and the IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade.
Piers Handling, chief executive officer and director of TIFF, said the first round of films "offers a taste of the powerhouse line-up at this year's festival".
"These are the works that will have everyone talking because they capture the mood of the times."
