Newtown CCTV Plans
Plans to create a WiFi network in Newtown are moving forward.

Plans to deliver free WiFi connectivity to Newtown’s residents, businesses and visitors are still moving forward. It is understood that the council has been considering the network and undertaking a feasibility study into plan since at least February. An update on the plans is expected to be submitted at the council’s next meeting scheduled on Monday.
Other towns throughout the UK have already set up similar networks, which allow access to broadband wirelessly as an alternative to fibre, copper and cellular networks and access.
The Welsh government has previously said it was open to proposals that had alternatives to conventional broadband, particularly in areas that could not receive good broadband speeds, fibre of 4G.
