Smart home automation, also called smart home technology, combines the use of smart gadgets and Internet of Things (IoT) allowing you to control, program and monitor your household activities. The system can be used for simple and more complex smart devices and appliances including indoor and outdoor cameras, sound systems, heating and cooling systems, locks and even coffee pots. Such products use software that allows you to remotely control them through your device. For example, you can lock your front door from the office using a smartphone. Home automation also refers to the use of sensors, such as HVAC system that can be programmed to be automatically turned on or off based on home occupancy.
Home automation offers the following benefits:
· Energy efficient – Home automation ensure that your lights, sprinkler system, and thermostat, among others, are turned off when not needed.
· Huge savings – By automating some of the biggest energy-drainers in your home, you can potentially save hundreds to thousands of dollars per year.
· Home safety – From a home safety point of view, home automation provides some major security advantages, like activating security systems remotely.
