IoT market is expanding due to the growing demands from consumers, businesses, and even governments.
There is no doubt that IoT, which offers an opportunity that is too great to miss, could prove transformative. It brings great possibilities for companies to be more efficient and bring exciting products to the market.
However, as IoT market’s size increases, hackers have an expanded surface area. Thus, protecting company’s intellectual property, customer data and operational infrastructure should be everybody’s number one priority. Securing multiple points of vulnerability, although challenging, can be achieved with the following:
· Hire a team of business executives and security specialists to ensure security is key consideration when designing core features and functionality.
· Integrate security best practices with the IoT product development process – It is important for businesses to be able to identify their vulnerability through an analysis of disruptive attack scenarios.
· Educate front-line staff in security best practices not just to minimise the risk of a security breach but also to enhance the reputation of the company.
· Address privacy concerns with transparent privacy policies – Businesses must come up with privacy policies that clearly detail how the data collected will be used.
