Torbay Council to live stream meetings in a bid to encourage public participation.

Torbay Council has released a statement confirming that they will live stream their meetings starting next month. However, the local authority will still allow the public to take part in person in the meetings in a bid to boost public participation.
Local authorities across the United Kingdom started live-streaming their meetings throughout the coronavirus pandemic as a measure to keep the virus from spreading. However, the council stopped streaming decision-making meetings in June 2021.
Councillor Christine Carter, cabinet member for corporate and community services, said: "The pandemic showed us all different ways of working, particularly in terms of embracing technology, so we look forward to seeing how this trial works.
"We'll evaluate it and come up with a long-term solution for how meetings could run in the future."
