We all joke about boys and their toys, but why is it men are so attached to their gadgets?
According to new research, two thirds of men like being in charge of big toys or machines. Nearly a third of them think its manly, a quarter of them say it makes them feel powerful and important- but most of all, three quarters say it all comes down to it being good fun.
But despite the fun side, the study from Kärcher the worlds leading pressure washer manufacturer shows men do take their toys very seriously. More than half say they wouldnt admit to their partner if they couldnt use a piece of technology. Nearly a third of those say theyd rather struggle on regardless than admit defeat and two thirds say theyd work it out in the end!
Men spend an average of 45 minutes a day using their blokey technology, and theyre forking out nearly £30 a month on their electrical goods. In total, men have an average of £1661.52 worth of electrical gadgets in their homes.
Even though men are looking to have fun with their boys toys, nearly two thirds admit theyd rather use technology that is useful than purely for entertainment. Amongst the useful gadgets that men use is the microwave (64%), the pressure washer (28%) and the electric sander/saw (26%). One in ten men even sees their pressure washer as the ultimate boys toy.
In this video, racing car driver Jason Plato talks about the research and also reveals what his dream gadget would be.
