Javan rhinoceros - Approximately 70
Slightly smaller than the Great Indian Rhinoceros we're all familiar with, this variety of rhinos, which lives in Southeast Asia, is the rarest large animal in the world.
Forty years ago, there were less than 30 left, but now conservation efforts have seen their number grow to about 70. Most of these vegetarian beasts are located in the Ujung Kulon National Park in Indonesia.
