'Sun, Sea And Bargain Spotting'
The fake: BBC programmes 'Sun, Sea and Bargain Spotting' and 'Trash to Cash' are based on the idea of contestants competing to get the biggest return when they sell their antique finds.
What really happened: An internal BBC report found that the programmes had "routinely misled" viewers as it was revealed that the shows' producers had posed as member of the public. In some cases, the staff purchases had directly affected the outcome of the show and which contestant won.
The broadcaster placed a suspension on Reef Productions who created the shows, forcing them to review their policies and pay compensation.
