If you can spare a good few hours then investing in property might be the way to go, you can build up a great portfolio to show off your skills. Make sure you have enough money to get started as this isn’t one of the cheapest hobbies in the world.
Sports
Next up, how do you feel about sports? Love them or loathe them, they can make excellent hobbies. Not only is sports good for you, it is a brilliant way to pass the time. You can either join a sports team or you can watch sports in person. If you used to love being on a football team then it doesn't have to end just because you got older. You can find a local walking football team if your joints aren’t quite what they used to be. If you prefer watching sports then you could get a load of your friends together to watch the game, or even head to a local restaurant to watch it while enjoying some drinks.
Reading
A book can transport you to a whole new world, and who wouldn’t want this. If you love nothing more than settling down with a book then the good news is you can get your hands on so many different genres. This will keep you entertained for days on end, unless you can get through a book in one day! Make a list of which books you wish to read, you may even find an author that you stick with for some time. There are a lot of movies now being released that are based on books. It may give you some inspiration for your next read or it could be one you have read before. But be careful, you may not like the adaptation as much as the book itself.
Number Puzzles
There is nothing better for you than doing number and word puzzles, it has amazing effects on your cognitive health. If you don’t want to slowly lose your mind, either with boredom or through cognitive decline then puzzles are the way to go. You could choose to do these online or buy a puzzle book. If you get a puzzle book then you can decide which ones you are going to do on which days. They are great for passing the time and having a positive impact on your mental health.
Gaming
Are you a gamer? If not, you could be. There are so many formats of gaming you could get into. We have already mentioned number puzzles, this is one way you could ‘game’. Another is using a pack of cards to play fun games like solitaire or snap. If you don’t want to play physical games then how about getting yourself a console to game on. The list of possibilities that come with this, you have RPGs, strategy, multiplayer, or even co-op. There is something for everyone in the world of console and online gaming.
If you don’t have a console or handheld device then you can still enjoy games online using a laptop or PC. You could download them from online stores or use a platform to play games such as minesweeper or pinball.
Gardening
If you enjoy going out into your garden then you could always take up gardening as your hobby. Being green fingered is an incredible talent, so why not put it to good use in your own garden or even someone else’s. Your garden is your sanctuary, your haven, so you want to create a space to enjoy it as and when you can. You don’t have to be out there every minute of every day, however, you will want to ensure it doesn't become overrun with weeds or outside debris. If you love to garden but don’t actually have your own then you could always join a gardening club.
Traveling
Finally, everyone loves to travel and no two adventures will ever be the same. When you have a long weekend, you could plan to go away somewhere. If you have a bucket list then why not work your way through this. You don’t have to rush through it, you could just take a weekend here and there every so often. Work out where you want to go and go from there, ensure you know what your budget is as you don’t want to be spending a small fortune on travel.
