The Most Promising Streaming Services
Not all streaming services were created equal. While many served as great launching blocks for the streaming industry, some have fallen behind and are lacking the kind of content and features that many users rely on.
While most of the world has been locked inside for the majority of the past year, some streaming platforms emerged victorious in the battle for superiority amongst the streamers. Let’s take a closer look at the most promising streaming services that are set to carry us well into the new year and beyond.
Netflix is the old granddaddy of streaming platforms and while it may be one of the oldest, it is also one of the most promising. Over the course of multiple years, Netflix remained a leader in the streaming field. Initially, it served as a convenient platform to watch all of your favourite shows and was widely available throughout the world.
However, as other platforms popped up, what set Netflix apart from the rest was its ability to stick with current trends. Furthermore, licensing issues never halted the service’s platform. Instead, as their streaming rights to many TV shows expired or were sold off to the highest bidder, Netflix started creating its own high-quality content based on global trends.
As Disney Plus enters its second year as a premium streaming service, we continue to see it flourishing. This certainly comes as no surprise given the fact that Disney controls or owns a number of different creative properties that include Star Wars, Marvel and Disney’s own enormous empire. Disney Plus is also one of the cheaper platforms, with a price point below even that of Netflix. Furthermore, a lot of the existing content on the platform may be old, but it has been remastered to accommodate for modern TVs with higher resolution and HDR colour palettes.
Following on from what Netflix started, Disney Plus has also created a range of unique content that is exclusive to the platform. However, the one criticism that the platform is facing is that it is not yet as widely available as other platforms are, with many fans of big Disney franchises having to miss out on exclusive content.
Hulu is the perfect streaming platform for those who want to keep up with the latest TV shows but don’t want to invest too much in terms of subscriptions or hardware. It’s as easy to access as sports bet AFL options, and just as entertaining too. The service provides access to most major TV network shows, as well as its own handful of exclusive content. Subscribers are also able to access a show’s current season and often, even all of the previous seasons, making it a great platform for those who prefer to binge watch.
Hulu features a number of hits, offbeat movies and classic anime series. While it certainly has plenty to offer, one thing that users aren’t too crazy about is the fact that even with a paid subscription, one still needs to sit through commercials when watching their favourite shows. However, the number of commercials that air still comes in at a significantly lower figure than one would encounter while watching a show on regular TV.
