Maria to quit salon

'Coronation Street' beauty Maria Sutherland is set to quit working at Audrey's hair salon after she starts dating a snobby businessman.
The pretty stylist, played by actress Samia Smith, starts dating wealthy posh boy Chris and soon begins to have delusions of grandeur.
The first advice Maria, who previously dated mechanic Tyrone, gets from her snobbish lover is to leave her "dead end job" and go for a top stylist's position at a trendy Manchester hair salon.
Chris tells her that if she wants to be with him and socialise in the same circles she will have to turn her back on Weatherfield and her friends, and despite warnings from her closest pals Mara is sucked in by him.
He tells the sexy brunette she is worth more than working in Audrey's "dump" and pushes her to hand in her notice.
A 'Street' source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "It's like the theme of 'My Fair Lady'. Chris likes the look of Maria and likes the idea of having a good-looking girl on his arm. But deep down he thinks she is a bit too common for him. He thinks Maria should talk and act more posh - he's a right snob. But Maria can't see it and is too taken him by him to see that he is trying to control her psychologically."
