The epic marble sculpture was discovered by a Greek peasant on the island of Milos in 1820. The French navy saw the artistic significance of sculpture and hauled the marble structure from the island.
Arguments ignited between the tired sailors as she was dragged across rocks to the ship causing her two arms to fall off along the way, but the sailors were too exhausted to retrace their steps.
