South Wales CCTV Not Working
Outdated and “not fit for purpose†CCTV system in a South Wales council to receive an upgrade.

Thirty-six CCTV cameras in Blaenau Gwent and none in Ebbw Vale, Brynmawr, Blaina or Cwm are currently working, it has been revealed. The server, which transmits images to be monitored in Newport also no longer works and is beyond repair.
The council is set to invest £150,000 to replace the analogue set up with a digital system consisting of 36 cameras in a scheme that the controlling Independent group has described as a “positive step forwards” and “long overdue.”
Councillors have agreed to buy a new system of high definition cameras that use wireless technology following an attack against a Blaenau Gwent employee in Tredegar. Police officers investigating the attack had to ask nearby shops and pubs for CCTV footage as the nearest town centre camera was not working.
