A shocking storyline twist will see Tracy Barlow arrested by police.

The spiky Coronation Street reprobate, played by Kate Ford, is cuffed after framing Steve McDonald and getting him thrown in a cell.

Tracy initially gets Steve, Simon Gregson's character, into hot water by telling police that their daughter Amy has been kidnapped by a stalker.

But in reality, Steve had simply taken Amy out for an innocent daytrip to Manchester airport with Tracy's blessing.

The evil plotter revels in her devious plan as all seems to be going to plan but it starts to crumble when investigators spy holes in her story.

"Tracy is desperate to get Steve out of Amy's life once and for all," a show insider told the Star.

"It is a cunning plan but it all goes horribly wrong and it is Tracy, not Steve, who ends up in big trouble with the law."
