Calderdale Council IT Upgrade

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet will decide on Monday, March 18, if they are going to approve proposals to invest £4.9million over a five-year period on upgrading essential information technology systems to keep supporting services and keep data safe.

The report to Cabinet says: “The first line of protection is to keep digital systems up to date and replace them before their technical support expires.”

Aside from the £4.895million upgrading cost, the cabinet is also being asked to fund the IT infrastructure programme using £1million from the council’s IT reserve to reduce the revenue investment required from the £1.970million to £970,000million.

If approved, the council will update its Cisco Phone system immediately at a cost of £350,000. Upgrades that will be carried out next year will include updating the council’s Windows 7 system at a cost of more than £1.5 million and its MS Office 2010 system by October 2020. Meanwhile, its Oracle and IT Core network will be upgraded by May 2021 at a cost of £1million.
