Home Secretary outlines new laws against terrorism

Following the Woolwich murder, on Sunday the Home Secretary Theresa May has outlined preventive measures against potential radicalisation of British Muslims. These include tougher pre-emptive censorships of internet sites and banning orders for so-called hate preachers.

She also talked about Communications Data Bill – the Snoopers Charter. This will allow security services and the police to monitor texts, emails, and other internet traffic.

She said, as quoted by The Mirror: "I have made my view very clear. The law enforcement agencies and the intelligence agencies need access to communications data.

"That is essential to them doing their job."

She added: "There is no doubt that people are able to watch things through the internet which can lead to radicalisation."
