Britney Spears has confirmed she is pregnant - just days after being rushed to hospital over fears for her unborn baby.
The pop babe, who has been desperate to start a family with second husband Kevin Federline, released a statement on her website last night (12.04.05) announcing the happy news.
She wrote: "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together.
"There were reports that I was in the hospital this weekend. Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well.
"Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Love Britney and Kevin."
The singer had been at the centre of a health riddle when she was admitted to a clinic with abdominal cramps and bleeding. She spent half the night being treated by specialists before being given the all-clear.
A source said: "Britney developed severe abdominal cramps and was rushed to a clinic. She was also bleeding and feared for her unborn baby. But she has been told that everything is OK."
Britney married Kevin last September after a whirlwind romance and soon announced she was trying for a baby.
The 23-year-old star said at the time: "I want to be a young mum. And that is my dream."
