Tesla is reducing or ending production of the Cybertruck, with Elon Musk signalling that the electric pickup is nearing the end of its run.
One report says the carmaker is "winding down" Cybertruck production next year. The company has not published a timetable for any halt to output.
The angular, stainless-steel truck was unveiled in 2019 and went on sale to US customers in late 2023. It has been sold in North America, and Tesla has not set out any plan to change that.
The company's position
Musk's comments point to the model being on its way out rather than being reworked or replaced. Tesla has not said whether remaining stock will be sold off, or what any wind-down would mean for staff at the factory that builds the vehicle.
The Cybertruck has been among the most talked-about vehicles in Tesla's range, drawing attention for its design as much as its performance.
Owners and buyers
Existing Cybertruck owners are the group most directly affected, along with anyone with an order in the queue. Tesla has not said how a reduction in production would affect deliveries, servicing or the supply of parts for trucks already on the road.
Tesla is expected to give further detail on its product plans in due course.
