EU accuses TikTok of breaching content rules
The European Union has accused TikTok of breaching content rules over the recommendation algorithm that powers its For You page.
Brussels says the feed must change. The For You page serves users a stream of videos selected by the platform's algorithm and is the main way people find content on the app.
Fresh pressure on ByteDance-owned app
The accusation increases regulatory pressure on the video-sharing platform, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. Any changes the EU demands to the For You page will be set out as the matter progresses.
TikTok has a large user base in the UK, where the platform is also subject to its own online safety rules.
